WHEN YOU VISIT ON A SUNDAY

We want all of our visitors to feel welcome, but not surprised! Here’s what to expect when you come to BCC:

Arriving

Our Welcome Center is located on the north side of the building, and we have visitor parking spots available just for you! As you enter our building, a Greeter will welcome you and provide you with any information you need.

Worship

Our worship begins at 9:00am on Sundays and usually ends around 10:15am. This is a time of praise, prayer, and devotion. Here are a few things to expect:

  • Singing - We sing a cappella which means we don’t use instruments. We find joy in vocal harmony and we invite you to join in!

  • Lord’s Supper (Communion) - We remember and celebrate Christ’s sacrifice on the cross every week. We pray together, then we gather at tables around the room to take elements representing symbols of Christ’s body (unleavened bread) and Christ’s blood (grape juice). If you’re a follower of Jesus, please feel free to participate. If you would rather not participate, remain in your seat. There is no obligation on your part!

  • Offering - We collect money to support our ministries, both local and across the world. Guests are not expected to contribute. You can share an offering in one of the boxes along the back wall. You can also give online by clicking here.

  • Sermon - A brief lesson that helps us grow in our faith journey.

For Children

  • Worship Activities - We offer some age-appropriate activities in the back of the Worship Center for your child(ren).

  • Nursery - Background-checked volunteers serve in our nursery available each Sunday during worship for ages 0-35 months Click here to learn more

  • Kids PRAISE! - A time during the sermon for the kids to have a focused time of singing, fun, and a lesson. Available for ages 3 through PreKindergarten.

WHEN YOU VISIT ON A WEDNESDAY

WEDNESDAY MEAL

On most Wednesdays we offer a meal from 5:30pm-6:15pm as a convenient option for members and visitors alike. The cost is $7/adult and $4/child (ages 2-10). The proceeds from the meal go to a local charity or a ministry at Belton Church of Christ. In order to make sure we have enough food for everyone, we ask that you reserve your meal by Tuesdays at noon. You can do so by filling out a short form on the Contact Us page.

CLASSES

Our classes begin at 6:30pm on Wednesdays and end at 7:30pm. We offer children’s classes, classes for teens, and various topical classes for adults. For a listing of what is being offered, visit the Connection Board just outside the Worship Center or contact our office.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

Here are some other questions you may have. If you don’t see an answer here, please feel free to call, email, or contact us online!

I see you’re a “Church of Christ.” What does that mean?

Churches of Christ are part of the Restoration Movement - when Christians from various denominations came together and tried to focus on being more like the church they read about in the Bible. If you see a Church of Christ sign on a church building, you can usually expect a group that focuses on the Bible, singing, communion during worship, and an emphasis on baptism for all who want to follow Jesus.

Each church in the Churches of Christ is autonomous. That means we won’t look exactly like another Church of Christ you may have visited, and that’s okay! We hope that you’ll find our church family to be welcoming and inviting to anyone who visits. We care about growing with God and following Jesus, and no matter who you are or what you’ve done, we believe God loves you and wants you to be a part of His family.

WHY aren’t there any instruments?

Part of our tradition is a focus on a cappella music. While we don’t think it’s wrong to worship with instruments, we like the beauty of vocal harmony. Our songs will range from classic hymns to spirituals to worship songs you may have heard on the radio.

I Noticed that women are involved in your sunday worship. Is that normal for a church of CHrist?

In mid-2020, our shepherds announced that we'd be expanding women's participation in worship. You can read the statement (and hear some sermons that led up to it) at beltonchurch.com/shepherd-statement.

If I’m visiting, will I be singled-out?

We want you to feel welcome, not overwhelmed, so we do not ask our visitors to stand up and be recognized.

I want to get more connected to this church. What should I do?

Great! We often have a Next Steps class for anyone who wants to get involved or learn more about our church. If you’d like to get info sooner, just fill out a Connection Card in our bulletin, or contact us online.

I’m not sure what I believe anymore.
I have questions about God.
I need to talk to a pastor.
My marriage is in trouble.
I’ve been hurt by a church before.

We’re happy to visit with you about any of these questions/concerns…and others! We have ministers and shepherds who are available to visit and discuss the situation you might be facing or questions you might have. We may not always be able to help (or have a perfect answer), but we’re always happy to talk.

During the day, our church office is open Monday-Thursday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. We have four ministers on staff, so we almost always have someone available.

If you need to visit some other time, please give us a call, email, or contact us online to schedule a time to visit.

Need other help?

Our church has partnered with Helping Hands of Belton to provide financial assistance to our community. Helping Hands offers other resources to help you get back on your feet, plan a budget, and plan for the future. They also offer classes on parenting and nutrition.

We also have a Food Pantry available at our church office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am - 12:00pm. You’ll need to bring a current driver’s license when you come. We limit each person to once per month, and only six visits per year total.
